  1. Oregon is a state in North West USA, on the 
  2. Pacific coast, nickname Beaver State. It has
  3. an area of 251,500sq km (97,079sq miles).
  4. Its capital is Salem. Its towns include 
  5. Portland, and Eugene. Oregon Territory 
  6. included Washington until 1853, Oregon 
  7. achieved statehood in 1859. It remained 
  8. relatively isolated until the completion of 
  9. the first transcontinental railroad link in
  10. 1883. Improved transportation helped make it 
  11. the nation's leading lumber producer and a 
  12. major exporter of food products.
